To use Fanvue and access content on the platform, you must be at least 18 years of age. Depending on where you are located, you may be asked to complete a quick age verification before you can view or search for NSFW content. This article explains how it works and what to do if you run into any issues.
Why does Fanvue require age verification?
Fanvue is a platform that hosts age-restricted content. In a growing number of countries and regions, laws require platforms like Fanvue to verify that users accessing this type of content are adults. Fanvue complies with these legal requirements. By creating a Fanvue account, you confirm that you are 18 or over and legally permitted to access the platform's content in your country or region (T&Cs Section 2.5).
When will I be asked to verify my age?
You will not be asked to verify your age when you first create your account. Age verification is triggered when you try to access or search for NSFW content on the platform.
Whether you will see a verification prompt depends on your location. In regions where age verification is required by law, you will need to complete the process before NSFW content becomes accessible. In regions where it is not currently a legal requirement, you can use the NSFW toggle without completing additional verification, though you may still see the option to verify.
Not being asked to verify?
If you are not prompted for age verification and the NSFW toggle is available to you, you can switch between SFW and NSFW content using the eye icon ποΈ on the side navigation panel. See: How to search for creators and turn on NSFW on Fanvue.
What does age verification involve?
Fanvue uses Ondato, a third-party age verification service, to carry out the check. The process is quick and straightforward:
When prompted, Ondato will open (this may launch in a new browser window or tab on desktop, or as a redirect on mobile)
You will be asked to take a selfie using your device's camera. This is used for age estimation only.
Once complete, Ondato processes your image and confirms your age to Fanvue. You are then returned to the platform.
Important
In some regions, local law requires more than a selfie; you may also be asked to provide a photo of a government-issued ID document. You may also be asked to provide ID if your selfie was not clear enough for the system to estimate your age, or if your initial verification attempt was unsuccessful. If this applies, Ondato will prompt you during the process. Any ID document submitted is used solely to confirm that you are 18 or over, as required by law. It will not be used for any other purpose.
My age verification failed - what should I do?
If your verification attempt was unsuccessful, the most common reasons are:
Poor photo quality
This is the most common reason for a failed verification. To improve your chances:
Take your selfie in a well-lit environment, avoid strong backlighting or dim rooms
Make sure your face is clearly visible and centred in the frame
Hold your device steady and avoid blur
Remove glasses, hats, or anything partially covering your face if possible
Try switching to a mobile device if you are on a desktop, phone cameras typically produce better results for this type of check
Technical issues - the page did not load, or the process did not complete
If Ondato did not open at all, try refreshing the page and triggering the verification again
On mobile, the verification may open as a browser redirect, allow it to open and do not close the window until the process is complete
Disable any ad-blockers or browser privacy extensions for fanvue.com, as these can sometimes block the Ondato window from loading
Try a different browser if the issue persists; make sure cache and cookies are cleared
Do not use VPN
Verification failed, and you can no longer access your account
In some cases, age verification may fail, and you may find that you are no longer able to log in or retry the verification process. If this happens, please contact our support team at [email protected], and we will look into this for you.
I completed verification, but still cannot see NSFW content
Age verification and the NSFW content filter are two separate things. Even after your age is verified, you still need to switch your content filter to NSFW on the side navigation panel using the eye icon ποΈ. Is my age verification data kept private?
Yes! Age verification is carried out by Ondato on Fanvue's behalf. Fanvue does not store your selfie or ID images. Only a confirmation of your age (pass or fail) and a timestamp are retained for compliance purposes.
Do not use a VPN to bypass age verification
Using a VPN or location-spoofing tool to bypass age verification may result in the permanent termination of your Fanvue account. This is prohibited under our Age Verification Policy and Terms & Conditions.
